dc.description.abstractThis study explores the socio-economic factors influencing access to clean and safe water in Kisakuru Village with the goal of ensuring clean water access by 2026 through community involvement. The objectives included assessing water quality, identifying socio-economic influences, evaluating the effectiveness of current water infrastructure, and providing practical recommendations. A cross-sectional survey design was used and data was collected through structured questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data was analysed using SPSS While qualitative data was analysed using thematic analysis. The findings reported that the majority (89.1%) of participants are farmers with low incomes and most households rely on contaminated rivers for water with (97%). Issues such as poor water quality (94%), health risks (97%), long distances to water sources (93%) and unreliable water supply (95%) were identified. Therefore, the study highlights the need for a coordinated approach to improve water infrastructure, quality, and address socio-economic barriers to ensure sustainable and equitable water access.
