| dc.description.abstract | The one-month village practicum is a supervised participatory fieldwork experience for students
in the second year with the intent of working on transforming rural communities. After theoretical
training, it’s necessary that students have the opportunity to practice using the acquired knowledge,
skills and technologies to help villages plan, mobilize, organize and carry out community projects.
The practicum was to enable the apprentice to get experience and prepare her for one-year
internship which will be done at sub county level. The practicum was to act as requirement for the
apprentice in the partial fulfillment of completion of the degree course which is bachelors of rural
development at African Rural University.
The practicum was effectively implemented in the period of one month from 04th August, 2024 to 05th September, 2024 in Kiruruma village, Bukonda parish, Kabasekende Sub County in Kibaale district at Mr. and Mrs. Mwesigwa Leonard’s family.
This report presents 5 chapters; chapter one introduction, chapter two literature review, chapter
three methodology, chapter 4, results and discussion and chapter five conclusion and
recommendation.
During a one-month village practicum, the apprentice worked with both males and females at
individual, family, group, and community levels by implementing activities in line with visionary
approach, fundamentals of creative process and sustainable development. The apprentice enabled
the people of Kiruruma village to create a community vision and participated in Community
Development (CD) activities such as clearing the road and the open well, worked with one group
(Kiruruma Women’s Group) where she enabled community members to make charcoal briquettes,
herbal soap, shoe polish, enabled community members to improve on hygiene and sanitation issues
(health wise) where she enabled them to construct drying racks, dig rubbish pits and tippy taps. | en_US |
